Porter five forces analysis is a framework for industry analysis and business strategy development formed by Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School in 1979. Porter’s 5 forces analysis represents the competitive environment of the firm. Five Forces model of Michael Porter is a very attractive concept for evaluating company's competitive position in the world market as well as between the competitors. Michael Porter provided a framework that models an industry and therefore implicitly also businesses as being influenced by five forces. Michael Porter's Five Forces model is often used when creating strategy plans, or making investment decisions about your business or organization. It is a strategic expectation to avoid putting the competitive advantage at risk and ensure that the profitability of products on a long term. Porter's competitive five forces model is probably one of the most commonly used business strategy tools and have recognized its usefulness in several situations.

Porter’s Five Forces works best when looking at an entire market sector of an iPad, five forces model is an analysis of creativity’s different sources of business threats i.e. the profitability of iPad businesses within the industrial structure depends on the following forces:

• Threats of new entrants to an industry

• Threats of substitutes products

• Bargaining power of customers

• Bargaining power of suppliers

• Competitive rivalry within the industry
