True leadership

True win

Coming one day

“Leadership is not a position, it’s a process” is in exact terms of how leadership should be viewed. Some people are born with natural abilities to lead, but some learn and develop their leadership skills. Some leaders are creative, some leaders take care of their followers, but some choose to be the “leader” on the “ship”. The leader is the active person that decides which way the ship is going to flee, and how the ship is going to get to its destination. Not only will the leader show his or her followers how to reach their goals of getting to the location, but also give their followers the ability to ride the ship back without their ship captain. An effective and active leader is a person who can leave his abilities and talents to his or her followers while actively improving their skills and development.

Leaders should depend on their followers, and followers should depend on their leader. Nelson Mandela, president of South Africa, gives an example of a Football team winning an important game. The hunt for treasure is on, on the “ship” with the “leader”. But for example, a group of pirates show up to intervene with their hunt for treasure. The leader in this situation is not the type of leader that goes down to the base of the ship and hides, but this leader is an active leader that takes charge of the situation and implements plans on how to defeat the enemy ship. There is an example in a story that one captain of a ship always wore red clothes before the battle. His red clothes hid the blood on his body from cuts so his crew members would not be scared. This story shows the relationship between the attitude of the leader [the captain] and how that influences the attitude of his followers during the battle. The battle in this case is a metaphor for a company’s downfall, crisis, or a problem.

If the battle is a problem that the company is facing, what is the treasure they’re hunting for? The treasure is the success and achievement of goals for the company. If the company or people succeed, the leader also feels the sense of accomplishment. In a sense, leaders sacrifice their sense of pain to further improve or benefit the group. Leaders also sacrifice their part of gain and spread the gain over the whole group. The leader is a drop of water, once the water drops on a clear surface of water,
