Project Title:

Vehicle Wash Rack Upgrade

Date Prepared:

8 October 2017

Introduction:

This project is to upgrade the current structure, to add an equipment room with new equipment, add a second lane, and a vacuum station that is co-located with the wash rack.  The project stands to eliminate customer complaints, return 3,300 man-hours to the company and to reduce the operations and maintenance cost of the facility.  From a strategic stand point, this project will provide a vehicle fleet that has a professional image to the company while limiting the number of times a vehicle is wash per month to twice, preventing from overusing the facility. The expected results are to reduce wait time by 75%, facility break downs by 75% and to eliminate customer complaints.  The deliverables for this project is to have a two-lane wash rack with an equipment room between the two in 6-months from the approval date.  The benefits that will be realized is the added time in the work centers which will make the company more productive in the long run.  The problems that will be resolved are the facility break downs, wait times, and the extra man-hours spent at the wash rack.

Project Management Approach

The Project Manager, Chris Miley and Jennifer Henderson has the overall authority and responsibility for managing and executing this project according to this Project Plan and it Subsidiary Management Plans.  The project team will consist of personnel that are considered as Subject Matter Experts from within the Company.  The following performance measurement baselines will be used a basis for determining project variances and are included in this plan: 1) the scope baseline (Scope Statement, WBS, and WBS Dictionary); 2) cost performance baseline; and 3) project schedule baseline.

Project-Specific Considerations:

In addition to the Stakeholder Management Strategy above the environment will be in a Work Area but will have minimal impact to operations.  The current wash rack will be inoperable for one month and we can secure local car washes to meet demands.  Additionally, the project is scheduled to be completed in phases to limit the facility being inoperable and to be slowly integrated back into operations.  One area that will need special attention is the management and performance checks of the contractors work as the company does not have the ability to perform the upgrades.
