Mars uses a method called "process excluded to avoid problems. Mars separate several parts from start to end in the project. In different steps, they choose different standard to delete defective items. In the end, they stay the most successful chance of item.
First, taking a look at all thoughts of projects. Check whether they can change into a real business and whether conform strategic direction of the company. If one of both is not accept, the project will be deleted.
Second, viewing the company’s resources, including finance, human resource, and time. If the company can support the project, the project is accepted to enter the development step. If not, it will be deleted.
Third, clearing the profile of the product. And considering whether the product can earn consumers’ interest and whether competitors follow quickly or not.
Finally, the product is really available in the market.
