I AM SAM – MOVIE REVIEW

First of all the movie is a drama, but it is also a love story. “A Beautiful Mind” really involves great acting and a very meaningful message to the audiences about people with disabilities. The main character, called John, is played by the famous actor Russell Crow, while Alicia, who is the second major character, is played by the actor Jennifer Connelly.

The main plot of the story is that John Nash is a person with disabilities, but continues to face challenges from his surroundings as a result. The story puts him in a position where he is constantly faced with different kinds of struggles, mainly in his relationship with others. Although at first he is portrayed as being arrogant and ego-centric, we then gradually discover his character as being confident, not arrogant and very self-aware, not ego-centric. Alicia, who becomes his wife, was first touched by his proposal to marry her, because she felt he was honest and sincere in what he was asking. The relationship between them seemed to be based on true love, which helps them both deal with the struggles that face them as a result of his disability. Through John Nash’s behavior in the film, the audiences can be able to see through him, allowing us to sympathize with and realize how reality can be very deceptive sometimes. What is important to mention is that John Nash has a brilliant mind, and that was the most stunning feature of him. With his mind, he was able to graduate and continue his academic career in addition to surviving the problem of schizophrenia. He was also able to show care for his wife and son, and showing intimacy in his love relationship. This showed that although this person has disabilities, he has a brilliant mind and a good heart. This is an important message throughout the movie which aims to highlight the fact that a person’s deeds and intentions are the most important, regardless of the physical and psychological problems.
