Samsara

By watching Samsara I remembered how unfair and how unequal our world can be. Watching the documentary I thought of some of the bad things in our society now-a-days, most of which were shown in the documentary such as war, poverty, discrimination, destruction, pollution etc., but it also made me recall that our world is full of beautiful natural landscapes, and filled with rich culture, and diversity that makes us humans special.

At first the film portrays some of the beauties of our world. Some of these shots showed lava moving, an epic waterfall, ancient ruins, statues, among other natural landscapes. These part of the film hints at us that our world is beautiful; that everywhere you go you will find natural landscapes that decorate our world.

On the other hand Samsara also shows the inadequacies of our world. Samsara makes you remember that for a lot people the world is no a beautiful, and nice place. It demonstrates how unequal our society can be by showing the richest places on Earth, and comparing them with the poorest places.

Likewise the documentary shows the ecological impact we have had on the planet by showing the amount of garbage that can pile up in a dumpster, the amount of old computers ready to be destroyed, the amount of pieces of old electro domestics that are processed.

Also the film emphasizes on the cruelty of the animals are treated in which they are born simply to be killed to be consumed.

There is one part of the documentary that I think is weird. The scene is the one in which a man is rubbing his face with a green substance, the he goes mad and starts putting a lot of it in his face, along with more weird stuff. I believe that the scene is about unburdening because that’s a way a person can unburden, by going crazy, and jumping, and doing mess. Or it may also be that the man is expressing his feelings. He could probably be mad at something, and that’s his way of showing his anger, who knows.
