INTRODUCTION

Supply Chain Management is a separate department in United Motors and General Fabrications. This department is responsible for many functions such as making sure about the smooth supply of the spare parts or materials required by the different departments especially by the operation department. Supply Chain Department is also responsible for keeping the track of the inventory that is left and inventory to be procured.

METHODOLOGY OR DATA COLLECTION:

1. OPERATION DEPARTMENT: The Supply Chain Management integrates with the Operations Department. The main work of the operation department is to operate and repair the cars of the customers. So, they need inventory time to time.  After integration, Operation Department will upload the requirements of inventory online to the Supply Chain Department. Supply Chain Department will get to know in advance about the inventory requirement and will make sure that the particular inventory is available on time.

1. BILLING DEPARTMENT: There are number of bills pending with the Supply Chain Department. Now, the Supply Chain Department integrates with the Billing Department. The Supply Chain Department will upload all the bills available with them to the Billing Department. So, now the delay will be reduced regarding the payment of materials procured.

1. COMPANY WEBSITE: The company website will be having all the data regarding the company. The Supply Chain Department integrates with the Billing Department. So, now it will be providing all the data regarding its department directly online to the Website Department. There will be no delay in uploading any information regarding Supply Department.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (R&D)

The Supply Chain Department will also be involved in Research And Development (R&D). Its main focus would be on researching about the new products that are coming in the market. Furthermore, it will indulge in research to develop the new products that can be used in repairing the cars faster and better.

ANALYSIS:

• The whole picture of the UNITED MOTORS AND GENERAL FABRICATIONS can be changed by integrating the different departments of the organisation.
• The coordination can be improved amongst departments as they no longer have to meet each other personally.
• The interdependence of department on each other will be reduced.
• The accountability of each department will increase by many times resulting in better performance of each department.

INSIGHTS:

• BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE: All the departments are now integrated and will work by joining hands with each other. This will enhance the performance of each department and will result in better services and relations with customers.
• FURTHER BUSINESS EXPANSION: With the better working of the whole organisation and with increased efficiency, the organisation can now look forward to expand business lines. Example: Now with the website, the company can display its inventory and customer reviews about their services online. By this, the customer can purchase any of inventory product online. Thus, increasing sales.
• INCREASED MARKET VALUE: As everything is now integrated and transparent, the market value and goodwill of the company will increase in long run.

CONCLUSIONS:

• Investing in Automation is not an expense rather it is an investment.
• In the highly competitive world, upgrading to the latest technology is the need of the hour.
• For the overall development of the organisation, Automation is must needed thing.
