Information Systems

Information systems play an important role in the successful operation of organizations today. Information systems help improve business processes and simplify company’s policies, eliminating policies and procedures that result in negative productivity. Information systems support changes of an organization to support new innovations, technologies, and data infrastructures. Organizations today are looking for different strategies and tools to make their companies operate efficient without sacrificing productivity information systems provides it. In addition, customers expect superior services and high quality products in today’s rapid changing environment. Information system provides the needed support to meet customers’ expectations.

Information system is a vital commodity in my place. I currently work for Computer Science Corporation as a video teleconference and video teletraining facilitator for the Training Support Command in San Diego, Ca. The information system that is used at my job was developed to specialize in Federal Distance Learning Programs. It is also used for Federal and Military communications, including satellite voice, secure IP voice, secure radio, emergency response and video systems. The need for video conferencing and video teletraining services continued to grow, with particular emphasis on large, Fortune 500 companies, Federal and Military Agencies. The slogan of most companies today “time is money” video teleconferencing and video teletraining saves both. For example, this information system connects as if individuals were face to face, even if individual are spread across the world. This simple use of technology improves meeting communication and helps eliminate companies expenses travel budget.

Videoconferencing is among the most widely used communications technologies in the enterprise, according to a recent Frost & Sullivan survey of 102 C-level executives: It’s used by employees within 76% of organizations, and personally by 59% of the CXOs themselves. That makes videoconferencing more popular than instant messaging, Voice over IP and unified messaging, and it suggests that companies are deploying videoconferencing in significant numbers. When asked, 81% of respondents said videoconferencing is “somewhat” or “very” important to the daily operations of their organization. Further, 71% said videoconferencing helps increase collaboration and productivity, and 76% said it helps reduce travel more so than any other
