Abortion is a topic which has nowadays become the common focus of diverse and influential debate in various societies, especially the U.S. One of the most confrontational topics argued is whether or not abortion is morally ethical. More than forty percent of all women will terminate their pregnancy by abortion at some point in their reproductive lives. In spite of disagreement by many people, abortion is one of the most widespread medical procedures performed in the United States every single year. While many people believe abortions should be banned because they consider it murder and unfair to the unborn, abortion is needed for rapes, health problems, and for family and religion values.

According to the Washington Post about ten to fifteen thousand abortions (approximately 1%) annually are sought because the conception occurred after rape or during an incestuous relationship, and the woman does not want to bear a child who was conceived in violence. One, there might be something very wrong with the child and the child might be better off never being born than being born and having a life with many serious problems. You would also have to think of the emotional damage this might have on the parents as well as the child. Another reason a mother might choose to get an abortion is if she was raped and she

doesn't want to have the child of someone he doesn't love. Having a child of

someone who raped you could have great emotional stress on some people.
