Faculty SWOT

Objectives:        

• To know individual Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats
• To recognize Opportunities and enhance Strengths
• To improve Weaknesses and avoid Threats
• To apply learned knowledge as an individual and as a teacher

SWOT Activity

• Honestly fill up the form below individually. Make sure to indicate each SWOT you have to identify what you need to improve, change and enhance.

Activity 1 (Group activity--10minutes)

• Discuss SWOT of at least 2 teaching methods, apply identified individual and teaching SWOT.

What it takes to be a teacher?

Objectives:

• Teachers should be able to identify characteristics of a good teacher
• Outline student-centered teaching and learning methods
• Create and apply appropriate teaching methods used in a lesson

I.        Activity 2 (Individual Activity—5minutes)

Answer the following:

• What is teaching?
• What makes a good teacher?

What is teaching?

Teaching:

• Motivate students to learn in a manner that is relevant, meaningful and memorable
• Passion  to convey craft/skills to others, most especially to students
• Bridging the gap between theory and practice
• Immersing oneself in the field, talking to, consulting with and assisting practitioners and responsibility with their communities.

What it takes to be a good teacher?

Good teacher:

• Enthusiastic/eager
• Prepared
• Punctual
• Patient
• Supportive and shows concern for students
• Consistent
• Polite
• Firm and authoritative
• Humble and fair
• Creative
• Has sense of humor
• Keep accurate records of work completed, attendance, test results and student’s grades.

*Discuss in the group own perception of questions above and assess answers to which are appropriate to apply in classroom situations.
