My court case paper dealt with one Mary Sharpski, Michael Shores, and Antonio Ortega on the attempted murder of her husband Frank Sharpski. Antonio Ortega was convicted of attacking Frank Sharpski (known as Rick to others) with a machete in a murder plot sought out by Mary Sharpski his wife and her new boyfriend Michael Shores. Antonio Ortega, showed no emotion when the eight-man, four woman jury found him guilty of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and mayhem plus several penalty-enhancing allegations for the hacking of Frank Sharpski. Superior Court Judge Richard Toohey along with Deputy District Attorney Lynda Fernandez said Ortega faces a maximum penalty of 29 years to life in prison. Frank Sharpski was allegedly plotted to be killed but when police responded he was alive many serious injuries, Frank Sharpski recalled that he was slashed by a man in black clothing. Fernandez contended that Mary Sharpski, wanted her husband of 18 years killed because of his emotional and physical abuse. Fernandez said Mary Sharpski conspired with her boyfriend, Michael Shores, an unemployed security guard, to murder her husband so they could move to Wyoming and live together. The pair promised Ortega, a close friend of Shores and a butcher at a Huntington Beach grocery store 5,000 dollars to kill Frank Sharpski, Fernandez argued. Sharpski survived the attack, but his nose was nearly slashed from his face, one of his thumbs and two fingers were severed and his skull was fractured. Ortega, Shores and Mary Sharpski were first tried on similar charges last year, but that jury could not reach unanimous verdicts on all three defendants.
