Dear fam,

I miss you guys soo much and Constantinople is awesome. Even though its really religious, I learned how to follow Christianity and I ended up loving it. Constantinople is a great city and is full of magnificent things like beautiful buildings, and stunning artwork. For example there’s a beautiful building called the Milion, or the First Milestone. According to John Julius Norwich, he wrote in his document (A), “The focal point of Constantinople’s new city was the Milion, or the First Milestone. It consisted of four triumphal arches forming a square and supporting a cupola (dome), above which was set the most venerable Christian relic of all-- the true cross itself.” This is significant because the Milion is a beautiful building and has so many incredible features to it. Also, because the cross of Christianity was on the top of it, it affected a lot of people because it was the center of the Christian world. When I saw the Milion, it was so gorgeous and grand, and it actually meant a lot to the people and me. Another reason why I like Constantinople is because of the artwork here. The artwork here is fabulous and has so much meaning to people who follow Christianity. According to a worksheet called Overview of Byzantine Art, it says, “Christ, Virgin Mary, and Apostles are created as icons represented by a sacred personage like a saint.” This basically means that Christ, Virgin Mary, and Apostles are represented by icons of a spirited individual like a saint. If you look closely at an artwork, you can find that many paintings from Constantinople, are very religious. This underscores the importance of the artwork of Constantinople because the people of Constantinople are very religious and their artwork are very important to them too. Constantinople use artwork to also strengthen the connection between the worshipper and the sacred figure. Overall, despite the fact that Constantinople’s artwork is beautiful and stunning, it also connected a lot with their religion. In addition, not only was their artwork stunning, their buildings are beautiful and awesome too.
