Ford's expansion in India and China and development of the order-to-delivery system

In the times of economical recession, I am proud to inform you that Ford Motor Co. is registering one of the highest quarterly operating profits in 6 years. This positive result is due to the higher or funds allocated for advertising and rebranding, as well as thanks to the effort that our employees put in developing new innovating and high quality cars. In order to maintain a constant profit growth our company decided to continue the expansion in the Asia Pacific Africa area.

Ford Motor Co. decided that the best way to raise the market share in this area, is bringing in and producing more vehicles based on global platforms as well as recruiting fresh talents and counting on the support of our business partners. Our future plans include the opening of a new engine facility in Chennai, India and a third assembly plant in China together with Mazda and Changing for 2012. Moreover, we are going to set up a plant at an unconfirmed location in Asia for the next generation of Focus.

However, the challenge we are facing consists in implementing our European order-to-deliver system - Vista - in the Asia Pacific Africa area . Vista, by switching from a build-to-stock to a build-to-order production and sales model, will help the company to better manage the global flow of inventories. Therefore, the main goal is to improve the communication with the dealers and plants, as well as with the logistics providers that will be asked to provide more time-critical deliveries.
