My name is Simon Gilliland, currently I am looking for employment to compliment my bachelor of Business studies. Due to the nature of my studies (external and online) I can afford to be extremely flexible with my time and therefore available to work any hours you may require. I am a hard and dedicated worker, who accepts that there is potential to learn from every situation and am gladly loyal to those who offer guidance in helping me reach my potential.

My previous business experience includes a, Business Administration Traineeship with the Toowoomba City Council which allowed me to complete a Certificate Three in Business Administration. The next step was to further my Business studies by starting a University Degree. Completing the traineeship and certificate cemented my interest in pursuing a career in Business particularly Human Resources, which has been a goal of mine since early high school.

I’m not afraid of hard work and have demonstrated this by obtaining labouring work through various farm projects which involves a very hands on approach along with dealing with environmental elements that come with an agricultural job. This included working individually and as part of a team often unsupervised, working with strict time constraints that efficiently and productively to meet the deadlines associated with agricultural jobs.

I believe I would be a suitable candidate for this Office admin role as I have a strong work ethic along with a great thirst for any opportunity to learn from real world environments and the experienced people who inhabit such workplaces.  I have had previous experience in working unsupervised and in teams, customer service both face to face and over the phone, database maintenance, data entry, electronic scanning and manual filing. I have demonstrated this during my role as Team member for Konnect Fasteners, a fast paced retail store for construction goods mainly fasteners that required rigorous database management through program called ORACLE. This and a childhood of using computers and electronics has given me a competent knowledge of such devices and their potentials, along with the ability to quickly learn new programs or processes.  This extends to general office programs of computers such as office programs, including Word, Outlook and also Excel, where I am able to create templates incorporating formulas and most functions relating to office and business functions. I was able to gain these general office skills and experience, whilst I worked in the Finance Department of Toowoomba Council and further learnt and developed these skills through TAFE and studying various subjects at University. Along with these skills I am always excited to learn new skills quickly that will help increase my knowledge and ability in any workplace.
