Spirituality Essay

“The possibility of transformation is the essence of hope.” To Ortberg, “morphing time” signified the meaning of morphing as a molding process. He explained how it must make sense, not going around trying to do the right thing but actually becoming the right sort of person. Intelligibly, God is with us while we transform little by little, day by day, situation by situation. According to John, “the primary goal of spiritual life is human transformation.” I am most definite that this process takes continuous time and effort. God wants us to morph indeed to a level similar to the one like Jesus. Understandably, we are to be to Christ as an image to the original; pursuing full time transformation will eventually morph you into Christ’s image over our lifetimes.

Boundaries create bubbles and everyone outside the bubble is contaminated. Growing up in a strict religious home it was enforced into me that we cannot leave the house after 10pm by any means because it was against my parent’s rules and in their terms “against the law of god.” I was bound to obey, if not there would be severe consequences towards my judgment. One late Sunday night my friend wanted me to accompany him to Walmart to buy some last minute necessities. Against my parent’s authority I decided to go with him since they didn’t understand if I needed to go to Walmart for some last minute things I needed for Monday morning. As I walked down the aisle, pushing the cart I felt quite spooked to see hardly any people at Walmart; only a few strange irreligious people. My conscious made me feel edgy in seeing all sorts of bizarre people shopping so sanely in such late hours. I didn’t want to make any eye contact with any of them because as I was raised to know, only immoral people would be out this late, low-life type.
