Amadeus Essay

Amadeus is a 1984 period drama film directed by Miloš Forman and written by Peter Shaffer. Adapted from Shaffer's stage play Amadeus (1979), the story is a variation of Alexander Pushkin's play Mozart i Salieri, in which the composer Antonio Salieri recognizes the genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart but thwarts him out of pride and envy. The story is set in Vienna, Austria, during the latter half of the 18th century(Wikipedia).

Mozart is famous for his piano pieces and his great contribution in composing. But people do not know so much about his personal life which closely related to his music creative activities. In this movie, it shows us a real Mozart but not something only represent his high repetition.

Amadeus is began with Salieri took his own life. People may don’t know who is Salieri, but yoy must know Beethoven, Schubert and Liszt. Salieri is their teacher. I think Salieri is very good at music. However, his talent is not rich enough to Mozart. So this story is continued with a music match between Mozart and Salieri. In this whole movie, it’s very easy for people to know Salieri nurses jealousy against Mozart. At the end of the movie, Mozart was died on the bad in the morning because he was too tired to write Requiem. Salieri's tale goes on through the night and into the next day. He reminisces about his youth, particularly about his devotion to God and his love for music and how he pledges to God to remain celibate as a sacrifice if he can somehow devote his life to music. He describes how his father's plans for him were to go into commerce, but suggests that the sudden death of his father, who choked to death during a meal, was "a miracle" that allowed him to pursue a career in music.

At the beginning of the movie, Salieri was trying to kill himself with Mozart’s Lyrita. Salieri is sullen and uninterested but eventually warms to the priest and launches into a long "confession" about his relationship with Mozart. The melody of this music is very shortness. You may feel irritability and anxiety when this music is playing. This music seems presages tragedy.
