Formulate a recruitment plan and strategy that will be used to staff the coffee shop initially and throughout the next three (3) years.

Recruitment Plan for 2012-2015

Positions to be filled:

(a) Store Manager (3)

(b) Coffee Servers (10)

Qualities that are essential in this recruitment process include:

(b) Excellent interpersonal skills

(c) Strong communication skills

(d) Strong relationship-building skills

(e) Team Player

(f) Adaptable and Flexible

(g) Dependable/ Reliable

Strategy:

Online recruitment: Online recruitment will enable me to gather the largest number of applicants. This strategy will appeal too many potential employees attending school or recent graduates, those relocating to the area or looking for a career change. Some of the websites currently selected are www.careerbuilder.com, www.hotjob.com, www.monster.com, and www.societyofminoritymanagers.org.

Campus recruiting and job fairs: The location of the coffee shop is a great opportunity to attract professionals and students. I will be onsite to answer job specific and hiring/benefits questions from applicants.

University partnerships: I will work to build relationships with the area universities and colleges in order to encourage students to pursue careers in business. Meetings will be scheduled with the dean and professors in order to generate interest in the field of Business. Working in the coffee shop can help assist students with paying for college tuition and other related expenses.

Internships: I will offer internships to applicants. This will allow the applicants to meet their academic requirements while getting hands on training in the field of business.

Targeted recruitment: My goal is to target applicants based on demographics (age, income etc.) and geographic.

Word of Mouth: I will ask current employees, customers, family and friends to recommend applicants to fill vacancies. The goal is to keep jobs filled based on the anticipated needs of the business. For example, some employees may take vacation during the summer months. As the owner, I would ensure that vacancies would be filled.
