Introduction

After finishing third year in SHMS, I decided to do my first internship in Switzerland. I found an intern in a Thai restaurant in Bex, the French part of Switzerland.

Le Took Took restaurant is located in Bex, a connection to the tourist destination: Villars sur Ollon. Le Took Took is one of the most popular Thai restaurants in Bex. With all the chefs from Thailand, Le Took Took is famous for not only the food but also the decoration in the restaurant. Le Took Took is owned by a Switzerland person. She is Madame Francine Menth. After 8 years of working in hospitality industry, from a small restaurant, she finally opened Le Took Took which is located near the train station with two sections: one fine dining restaurant with 80 covers, one cafeteria and terrace with about 70 covers. Even though Le Took Took is not a very big restaurant, it is really famous for the food and the quality of service. Come to Le Took Took restaurant, the customers can feel the Thailand’s atmosphere and enjoy the specialties of that country.

Link theoretical knowledge with real life situations

The theory from SHMS can be applied to the work really well. After three years studying in SHMS, I had a good knowledge about working and controlling load of work in a restaurant. The subject that can be applied easily to the work is F&B service practical. It gives me the basic of the service standard so that I can use to the service in Le Took Took. The theory from Wine & Bar subject is also really useful for me when the customers asked me to recommend the wine that goes well with the food they ordered. Even I am not a professional sommelier; at least I can give some opinions based on the basic knowledge about wine. French is also a very helpful subject to me. From what I learned in SHMS, I can communicate with people in French and apply the knowledge that I had to the practical.

Effectiveness of training

When I was working in Le Took Took restaurant, I was trained by the professional and experienced supervisor and colleagues. They tried to teach me everything in details as much as possible. I can ask them whatever I did not understand. The training course was really useful to me that I felt really confident and ready to work in the professional condition in Le Took Took. The supervisor also show my weaknesses in order for me to improve and help me in my future career.

Problems and Solutions

New environment:

During the time I have studied in Switzerland, this is the first time I am working here. My last second internship in first and second year was in the hotel in Vietnam. This year restaurant is the new experience for me. First of all, the working environment in Switzerland is not the same when I was teaching
