Developing and Maintaining a Healthy Relationship

Congratulations on the engagement, it is indeed quite a huge step to take in life. Nonetheless, there are a few things regarding relationships and marriage that one needs to know. Relationships have challenges, but that does not signify their end it all, there are numerous channels of resolving the differences. Intimacy is an appropriate thing in a healthy relationship.

•    Familiarity amid couples brings peace to the spouses as long as they stay faithful;

•    There is a sense of faithfulness and commitment to the relationship;

•    Intimacy results in mutual respect and support in events of distress;

•    Intimacy guarantees mutual friendship and warmth that is essential to the well-being of the relationship as well as the individuals.  

•    There are emotional and physical intimacy that prompts faithfulness and more affection to one another;

•    Closeness also breeds a romantic and healthy sexual life that is very vital to the relationship;

•    Intimacy results in good communication amid the spouses--communication is an essential element in a relationship. Without communication, the relationship is as good as dead.

•    Intimacy respects the aspect of independent identities and interests as individuals yet it also promotes cohesiveness and family-hood.

With the above effects of closeness to wellbeing, there are mechanisms and strategies of

developing and maintaining a healthy relationship:

•    Communication is important in the relationship as it is an element of maintaining a healthy flow of events. Shutting down and failing to communicate could paralyze the relationship to its knees. Communication helps the couples to engage and resolve serious issues.
