Has Technology Become a Necessity?

We are surrounded by technology, from when we brew a cup of coffee in the morning to when we send an email and check the weather using our smart phones. Most people have become accustomed to their current level of technology access and would be at a great disadvantage without it. I have always assumed that I could do without and would be fine and recently I had the lovely experience.

When I started attending Thomas Nelson I was given an old laptop by a family member and I had an iPhone. These are two examples that most people have and are not exceptionally exclusive products. With these two products I was able to keep up with my online classes and my lecture courses. I could check my student email while grocery shopping and could write discussion board posts while my toddler was napping in my arms. After my first semester due to financial strain I liberated myself of my cell phone. I wasn’t too concerned but I did I immediately saw a difference in the accessibility of my school work. I had to bring the laptop out every time I wanted to do anything school related but it still wasn’t a major problem. At the beginning of my fourth semester my laptop was completely destroyed. I was told it could not be repaired and I needed to purchase a new one. I was unable to and still have not replaced it. Now I can really feel the pressure. Previously I never could understand how students could turn in so many late assignments but now I can relate. I only have access to a computer three days a week and my two and a half year old is with me. If you can imagine the experience is never a smooth one. If I am not extremely careful in my scheduling I can be late turning in multiple assignments.
