My personal experience is with the Georgia Department of Corrections is pluralism style because of an array of diversity.  The survival of groups with particular political, religious, or ethnic background within a single society is pluralism.  The main job description for all employees within the agency is to protect the public.  Regardless of any distinguishing factors, the ultimate goal is expressed and exercised throughout the organization.  According to  “Growing numbers of people are exposed, on a day-to-day basis, to different cultures and their products, whether these cultures are present in the blood or not, whether people travel much or not, and whether they are intrinsically interested in these cultures or not” (Demangeot, and Sankaran, 2012, p. 761).

Employees have to coexist within the prison setting to achieve the desired goals of the organization.  The significant change in the last 25 years of the DOC is that a collection of meanings and mutual values that are held by a group of business associates that differentiate one organization from others.  Adhering to prescribed policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis uniformly will ensure that the mission statement is accomplished at all state facilities.  Learned processes, training, and experiences through routine practices create the culture for the employees of DOC.  The motto of DOC state publicly to be “the best ran DOC in the nation.” This can be obtained by exercising principles such as honesty, professionalism, and loyalty.

Offenders in the prison systems come from different areas throughout the world to include other countries.  Conforming to the English language is expected for offenders to maintain and participate in the rehabilitation process to become productive citizens.  Language barriers and no education is a problem for offenders in the prison system.  Positive interaction in the prison system will determine an offender’s ability to grasp the rehabilitation process.  Cognitive behavioral programs are utilized to change the mindsets of offenders to a more positive one to transition back into society as a better person than what the offender went in as.
