During the Han Dynasty they invented many different types of technology. One type of technology they invented was irrigation and water conservation. They used that technology to help prevent flooding. The Han used a system called water bureaucracy to help with the technology. They had a high official, deputy, a chief hydraulic engineer and workers to carry out all the tasks. All of them needed to pass a civil service exam before getting the job. One of the tasks was conducting inspections of the two rivers named the Yellow and the Yangtze rivers and an inspection of the great canal. Another type of technology they invented was the water powered blowing-engine. It was invented by Tu Shinh because he loved the common people and wished to save their labor. The blowing-engine was used for the casting of iron. During this time period the Han dynasty was falling and the common people were against the government. So the Han dynasty was trying to support them and be on their sides. This technology was important to the Chinese because it made their labor easier. The last technology is the rudder and fore-and-aft rigging. This invention allowed ships to sail into the wind for the first time. This made it possible for Chinese merchant ships carrying heavy cargoes to travel through the island in Southeast Asia and into the Indian Ocean. This invention ultimately led to major expansion of trade. The Chinese’s attitude toward these three technologies was good. The technologies all benefitted them and made things easier. For example the water powered blowing-engine made the commoners labor easier, so they liked that invention and their attitude towards it was good. Also the Han’s attitude toward the rudder and fore-and-aft rigging was also probably good because it helped increase trade. During the Han Dynasty there were many invention of technology that the Chinese had opinions on.
