President Case

Every four years, our country elects a President that will be a leader to this great country of ours. In the process of electing that next leader there is a system put in place that was created by our Founding Fathers which has lasted two centuries. The system that is currently in use is called the Electoral College. There has been a widespread debate as to whether this Electoral system should be kept or if it should inherit the National Popular Vote. When our Founding Fathers created the electoral college, they believed that it was the most honest and democratic way to elect the President but that is no longer the case. We live in a completely different time now that requires a system that is modified to the world we live in today, not a system that was used two centuries ago. For this reason, the national popular vote should be incorporated to our system. The National Popular vote is better suited for our nation because it gives the people more of a voice in the election as well as it counts every vote equally. Like any other governmental system, the electoral college has its strengths and weaknesses, but the weaknesses have created instrumental problems in the election process that cannot be overlooked. The Electoral College should indeed be abolished to incorporate the National Popular Vote so that it gives our country a fresh start and a more fair voting process.

The Electoral College is composed of a group of electors from all fifty states. In this system, every state is given a certain number of electors and these electors must then cast their vote for the candidate who receives the majority of votes for that particular state. Thereby the candidate who gets the most popular votes for that designated state will also receives all of the Electoral votes for that state as well.
