[pic 1]I consider a true work of art is the reflection of artist’s interest, feeling and mind. When I first saw this paint, I believe that the actual work of art can reflect the inner world of both artist, and people who saw the work.
Only can this product attract me in the Cleveland art museum. I think we will have the same feeling as the artist when we perceive his work of art. When I first saw this work, I suddenly felt lonely. To my experience, I think artist wants to express the strong feeling of loneliness from deep part of his heart. In this picture, we can see a girl in red through the window. Although there is only one person in the picture, here is another one who was looking at this girl, and I think that is artist himself. From the sad expression in the girl's face, we can feel lonely and helpless in such a cold winter.
I believe perception is the product of innate. When artist was creating a work, he condensed his interest and his thought of his inner world into work. If there is no consonance with the feeling of artist, it is difficult for us to perceive the work of art. In addition, this consonance, which can understand the thought that artists express in their work, is the innate ability of people. That is why some people have talent in arts while others do not.
From this paint, I think what artist seen in the cold winter may not be real, but the paint is the interpretation of artist’s real inner world at that time. We can only understand the art when we accidentally have the same feeling as artist’s.
From this experience, I realized that information could be communicated precisely when two individuals have the same idea. For example, if I do not incidentally have lonely feel I may not perceive the paint. I’m quite agreed with Walker Percy said in his article, ‘Only when beholders have the same experience as what original producer undergoing, can beholder perceive the work of arts’. Therefore, I think art is the process which artist condensed his experience and story into a product, we can understand the work of art when we have familiar experience with the artist’s.
