Background of Microsoft’s YouthSpark Campaign

  Microsoft YouthSpark is a global initiative by Microsoft to increase access for all youth to learn computer science, empowering them to achieve more for themselves, their families and their communities. In the year 2012, Microsoft launched Microsoft YouthSpark campaign as their cross-company initiative to create educational, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for more than 300 million youth around the world. Microsoft continue to work in partnership with governments, non-profit organisations and businesses as it focus on the initiative of providing opportunities for all youth to learn computer science. YouthSpark campaign aimed to create opportunities for youth around the world to learn computer science by building the capacity of teachers, trainers and non-profit organisations. This campaign includes programs, such as TEALS that pairs volunteers from across the technology industry with classroom teachers to bring computer science courses into high schools across the United States. It also includes support for their nonprofit partners in more than 70 countries around the world to help build capacity to offer computer science courses in their communities, targeted to young people who would not have access to a computer education. YouthSpark campaign seek to inspire young people to pursue a career that are made possible by technology and connect them to greater opportunities.

Nowadays, Technology has become a crucial part for everyone’s daily lives, there has been a growing demand from non-profit organizations, governments, teachers and parents to teach the youth understand how to utilize today’s technology or help them become innovators to create their own technology in order to become beneficial in their societies.

2) Goals and objectives of the youth-spark campaign:

The main objective of Microsoft Youthspark campaign is to help the youth from all over the world to access and learn computer science in order to empower them to achieve more for their communities and to also educate the youth how to access through computer science in order for them to develop problem solving skills as well as computational thinking skills which are very important for their future.

3) Target Audience:

YouthSpark is Microsoft’s ambitious corporate social responsibility initiative designed to provide youths across the world with opportunities in education, employment, and entrepreneurship. It focus mainly for youths all across the world.

4) Budget:

Microsoft unveiled its YouthSpark program, which is designed to help create educational and economic opportunities for children around the world. According to the company, they have invested $86.5 million on the campaign.
