Overcoming Barriers for Succeeding in A Career

Success is like an artistic project like a movie that would be shown in theatres. Even though the full picture can be visualized in your head right away, the completion of the process is actually long, hard and especially tiring. Right now Success to me would be class by class, semester by semester, being able to get good grades to get towards a degree. In thirty years success might be that I am living independently and have a career that I am able to enjoy and able to function in.

Right now, I am not sure about what direction to take, since I still do not have the proper social and at home skills to live by myself independent every day. After I learned to cook my own food an overcome my fear of a getting burned by a heated oven and remember to keep the house clean, I can live at my parent’s house and feel more like a roommate and less of them being my legal guardians. If my mom and or dad would not be around 30 years to help me with being capable to live on my own, the plan would be to see if a relative would take me in until I can be truly sure I can live independently. You cannot never succeed in being completely independent since there will always be required help everyone needs no matter who receives it or when it happens.

My usual barriers, which was realized at 2 ½ years old and might last for a long time in my life would add up to dealing with my autism. My sensitivity with smell, taste and texture when eating makes it hard to be in a room with something cooking that does not agree with my nose and stomach. I have trouble remembering instructions completely. This can make me not complete required task(s) during at my job correctly or miss something, making the task(s) incomplete. If I am going to be a fish hatchery manager, I would have to get rid of as much sensitivity to the smell of fish. So far, the smell is close to completely tolerable
