1. Why is this movie called "the good lie"?

The movie is called a good lie because Theo saved Mamere life when they are in the desert and Theo surrenders to save Mamere’s life. That was a good lie, because a lie is normally bad however, if it is to save someone then it is good. On the other hand, Mamere comes back to Sudan to find Theo and he gives the life the Theo deserves according to Mamere. He prefers to stay in Soudan and let Theo travel to America when he realises that they won’t be able to go back together.

2. If you were promoting this movie what clips would you use and what would be the marketing idea to attract people?

It would be interesting to show what they have faced in Sudan, the long road to the refugees camp in Kenya. Their emotions when they realise that they are going to the US and on contrary some scenes to show that the US isn’t the life they expected but at the end they are all happy.

That is why I would choose the scenes below:

The Christmas scene when they find back Abital.

The scene when they are ice skating. The scene shows that even if they are different from the colour of their skin, that they can both do the same thing and learn new things together too.

The scene at the beginning when an African learns how to find water

The scene of the helicopter at first

The scene when Carrie ask them if they manage to get their luggage (because we need to show that this movie is also funny)

3. About the movie: Why is Paul so upset? Why does Jerimiah want to go back to Sudan? Why are they unhappy in America?

Paul is upset because as he smokes joints, he understands how life is different from Sudan and how they are not as happy as they used to be. He takes Mamere for responsible that Abital is no longer living with them.
