Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods Paper

The different methods of research are used to help students and organizations find different techniques or tools to create a scientific plan. The research that is conducted will find data that can be translated into measurable data. This measurable data is the catalyst from where new programs can evolve. The maintenance of the program can use data to tweak the program. Research will allow for new programs and data to be used in most human service organizations.

When doing appropriate research, you are looking for different ways to achieve the goal of final data results. Appropriate academic research is using multi steps that do not always go in order. However, the research is legitimate data that is not tampered or altered in any way. It can provide a starting base for additional research. Quantitative research is used in the natural sciences and social sciences. Quantitative research is the systematic use of empirical investigation of being able to observe a great deal of data through statistical, mathematical or computations. Qualitative Research is mostly exploratory research. This is used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons. This can form opinions, and motivations as the research goes on and it can provide insight. This insight goes into the problem and helps create, develop ideas along with hypotheses. This will give the opportune time for potential quantitative research. These two types of research can be used in a human services organization. However, they will be used at different times. Since quantitative is based on observing this can be used to observe a client. Also, observe how the program is doing for the clients. While qualitative uses the data after the results are in and how to improve based on the results. This is good when a measurable can be taken or having a tangible to go by. If that is not the case, then it is best to go with quantitative research.

The quantitative research method would be used during a group or individual session to give feedback to the client(s) immediately. This will allow the client to know where they are currently in t the program and the services professional can make adjustments to the program to better serve.  Qualitative would be used when a session is not being observed in person and just reviewing the transcripts to the session. This gives the client feedback when they come back for their b=next session, However, this could be days or weeks in between sessions. So the client may get more anxiety the professional cannot make immediate changes to accommodate. In my opinion the quantitative method is better suited for the human services organization, because that the feedback is immediate. They are able to help the client before the next session or during the session. The success is on a faster track and the program will yield better results.
