Major League Lacrosse

Major League Lacrosse offices have many functions and although an older mission statement from the league; there is a newer mission statement from a team. In every league there has to be committee’s to build rules, drug policies, and an All­​star game committee. The functions of these committees vary but they all get the job done. Major League Lacrosse comes from strong sponsors with their own missions and from strong founders. The original mission statement from Major League Lacrosse’s founders was “Creating a pinnacle for the game” (1) This mission statement has been successful with pinnacle being the high point of the game. A mission statement is to say what the organization is about and the purposes the organization may hold. There are many mission statements held throughout the world and many successful missions that have kept many companies going. A mission statement is “the focus on an organization’s purpose.” Mission statements generally communicates to the purpose and communicates for everybody in and outside the organization can understand. The mission statement of Major League Lacrosse was very successful, because it has seemed to be the pinnacle of the sport. This has created a higher standard for youth, high school, and college athletes to look to, as they now have a professional league to look up to in Major League Lacrosse, like athletes from other sports have NBA, MLB, and NFL to look up to. One Major League Lacrosse (MLL) team does have a mission statement. This team is the Denver Outlaws whom were founded in 2006. The mission statement of the Denver Outlaws is “an organization committed to not only winning MLL Championships but also to growing new lacrosse fans, making positive impact on the community, and providing superior entertainment, value, and service.” (2) This has seemed to be a real successful mission statement as they continue to set Major League Lacrosse attendance records.
