The magazine that I picked was Seventeen Magazine. Seventeen is an American magazine for teenagers. It was first published in September 1944 by Walter Annenberg's Triangle Publications. Primedia sold the magazine to Hearst in 2003. It is still in the forefront of newsstand popularity among growing competition. This magazine is mainly for teens the ages 12-21. After going through the entire magazine, I feel that it should be for readers ages 17 and up.

Seventeen is as essential as the telephone and lip gloss. With it’s up to the minute advice on beauty, fashion, fitness, relationships, school and careers, its vital reading. Each issue includes fiction, celebrity interviews, music, movie and TV coverage, plus topical issues of personal and global interest. Girls younger than 17 shouldn’t read Seventeen Magazine, young female teens don’t need to worry about relationships with boys or worrying about losing weight and counting carbs during the holiday season. At times this magazine shares stories that other girls around the world have gone through; some of these stories are dramatizing and very detailed. The stories do have an important meaning but not for girls younger than 17. The age this magazine stated, I strongly disagree, no young girl the age of 12 needs to read stories about others girls who have been raped, molested, or even abused. This Seventeen magazine does have many informative facts, such as what are the best TV shows, movies, and even music. Also they have many tips on what’s a good buy, what’s on sale, or even what the latest new styles. This magazine also provides girls how to properly apply makeup and what the best look is for each occasion.

Overall Seventeen Magazine is a very inspiring and informative with the latest news, but what takes me back is the age group they believe should be reading this. In today’s society young teens are developing quicker than teens during my time. During that time
