Benefits of Meditation

Introduction

  Good afternoon everyone, my name is Jing Wei and this is my partner Jason and Yeow Xing. Meditation is a precise technique for resting the mind and attaining a state of consciousness. In meditation, the mind is clear, relaxed, and inwardly focused. There are different types of meditation, and the different types of meditation help keep your body and mind healthy.The different types of meditation techniques that have evolved from Hinduism, Christianity, and Buddhism can be classified under five categories which is Concentration, Reflective Meditation, Mindfulness Meditation Heart-Centered Meditation, Creative Meditation.

  Base on the research done in Havard , there is a successful meditation story. Matthew is a college student. He was struggling to handle all of the stress that life was throwing at him, example stress from school , family and social life. After that he found out that meditation is a way for him to reduce his stress, make him feel better. He decided to spend 20 minutes a day meditating, after 2 month since he doing meditation Matthew finding himself to be more grateful for his life situation. All his stress in is life have effectively reduce . Matthew is now a healthy college student.

  According to the science research into meditation, meditation can helps to control desires. It help to control from our daily desires and get rid from envy. In fact, meditation is medication. It helps to cure disease such as depression, anxiety. Today we are here to talk about the benefits of meditation. Here are the 3 benefits of meditation, reduce the risk of heart disease, improve our body immune system , reduce student from stress and anxiety.

Body

  Firstly, meditation can reduce the risk of heart disease. Our mind and heart connection is a complex and powerful relationship. When we doing meditation, our brain activity will slow down and gives our bodies time to gather strength and boots energy. This can help our bodies lower down blood pressure and function properly and this can reduce the risk of heart disease . According to the cardiovascular study was done in the journal Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and outcomes. High blood pressure cause heart disease. Blood pressure is a measurement of how much blood your heart pumps and the level of resistance to the blood flow in your arteries. The heart is a muscle that functions much like a pump. Every time it beats, the heart receive a rush of blood through the blood vessels. High blood pressure will block our blood flow to our heart , our blood carry oxygen to our heart. Which means high blood pressure can make our heart muscle not getting enough blood, and heart muscle becomes damaged from lack of oxygen and this will cause heart disease. According to the report from the American Heart Association , people with heart disease after doing meditation had 48% reduction to the overall risk of heart attack, stroke and death. The study above concludes that meditation can slow down our brain activity and lower our blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease. In conclusion, meditation can reduce the risk of heart disease.
