Do you think motion pictures are more popular than theatre? If so, why is that? If not, why is that?

What do we use to determine and evaluate popularity?

What roles do individual tastes play in evaluating that popularity?

What roles does society play in evaluating that popularity?

What changes or improvements would you suggest to increase the popularity of theatre?

In my opinion, I think motion pictures are more popular than theatre. As we know, most of people would like to go to the cinema and watch some movies. But few of us would like to go to a theatre. I think the most important reason is motion pictures are easier to understand. Motion pictures show us the direct pictures in front of our eyes. But we have to think the extended meanings when we watch a theatre. On the other hand, the visual effects of motion pictures are better than theatre.

In general, we use popularity degree to determine and evaluate popularity, which means if some things are accepted by most people, we identified them ‘popular’.

Different people have different tastes. For example, some people like comedy movies, but some people like action movies. So, individual tastes play an important role in evaluating popularity.

Society also plays an important role in evaluating popularity. We can suppose society as a group with many members. If some things are popular for most members, then, we say they are popular. For example, Coca cola is a good taste soft drink, society accept it. So, it is popular in the society.

I suggest theatre should show us more pictures about our real life. That makes us feel more realistic and closer the distance between people and theatre.
