The speech “The Story of the Eagle’s Sustainability Program” given by Leonard Bonacci reflected upon the many endeavors that the Eagles team is taking on to set an example of the need to reflect upon the environment and each individuals impact on the environment. The speech showed the development of the Eagle’s current campaign was also persuasive in showing the audience what they can do to make a difference. The speech was well developed and delivered to evoke a sense of urgency about the matter and to demonstrate the success of these endeavors with the Eagles and the true success the impact will have if everyone would do their part in taking care of the earth. Through this paper I am going to look at the overall structure and development of the speech to the audience and how the speaker, Mr. Leonard Bonacci, Director of Operations for the Philadelphia Eagles used his audience to evoke a passion for the Eagle’s cause of “Going Green” while informing the audience of the new practices the Eagles are using.

The speaker, Leonard Bonacci, started the speech identifying his name and position as well as one other person from the organization’s position that was speaking. He then introduced the topic of sustainability. He first identified to his audience that in order to understand the eagles campaign of “Growing Green” there first needs to be an identification that there can only be efforts to improve a going green campaign, but there are always areas to grow. He then identified three main pillars within his introduction the Eagles are using for this endeavor. These three pillars are reduce, reuse, and recycle. The introduction of the speech was strong and actually captured the attention of the audience through identifying the overall purpose. This introduction organized what was logically going to come next and showed the realistic yet impactful stance the company is taking on the goal of “Going Green.”
