Leadership and Your Career

Leadership is the capability to motivate employees to willingly engage in organizational goals.  Manager and leader terms are one and the same where leaders perform with certainty and managers act conscientiously. Leaders have vision and is about coping with change (Kinicki & Williams, 2015). Leadership is a multifaceted phenomenon including the followers, the leader, and the circumstances. A few leadership researchers have concentrated on the behaviors, personality, physical traits, of the leader; while others have researched the connections amongst followers and leaders. Some of the most important attitudes for the organization’s accomplishments are those of its leaders, since a leader’s mannerisms, behaviors and attitudes perform a significant part in determining what an employee’s attitude will be, such as their work contentment and organizational dedication. Steve Jobs, an inspirational and innovational leader, and the late CEO of Apple, Inc. instructed Tim Cooks to develop into the effective leader needed for the sustainability of the Apple, Inc. Some of the different styles to comprehend leadership are: trait approach, behavioral approach, situational approach, transformational leadership approach and leader-member exchange model etc.  All approaches have a distinctive importance in the area of organizational leadership. The contingency leadership philosophy is discussed with its usage in the business organization.

Transformational Leadership Approach

Transformational leadership transforms employees to pursue organizational goals over self-interests using inspirational motivation, idealized, influence, individualized consideration, intellectual stimulation (Kinicki & Williams, 2015).

Transformational Leaders are influenced by two factors:
