McDonaldization of Society

McDonaldization theory is based off of how McDonalds runs their company. Fast pace, appealing to all ages, but gets kids attentions the most, produces same quality of product across the board.

McDonaldization in my opinion is not good for society. For example McDonalds who created this is bad on society; yes they do a great job at marketing their product and selling it but they are just making Americans fat. I do understand that we are at free will and people can choose what they want to eat but they are so good at drawing in people. The McDonaldization is made up of four components which consist of efficiency, calculability, predictability and control.

The first component of the theory efficiency; it is explained as what is the fasted way to get from one point to the other. How fast can we get things done? That is all society is worried about these days, all we do is go we never slow down. Technology has become part of the McDonaldlization because all we see now is ways to make is faster, now we have internet on phones, you can place orders at restaurants on phones to go pick up food, you can do everything on your phone now that allows you to keep going and get to one point to the other the fastest way possible.

The second component is calculability the way I understood it was from a consumer point of view we want large quantity for a cheap price. For a company they want quantity over quality. Today you see this everywhere, you see it a lot in fast food joints you can get a large for just fifty cents extra. You also see this in technology, you see it in clothing sales, and you see this everywhere. In technology when buying you can upgrade for just a little bit extra, or you can add this app for only a dollar. In clothing you see it everywhere especially in stores that the clothing is cheap, the consumer is wanting inexpensive and the producer is not worried about the quality but the quantity that they are producing.
