Dynamic Warm-Up Lesson Plan:

Overall Objectives: Students will:

1. learn what a dynamic warm up is and how it prepares the body for activity.

2. learn the components that make up a dynamic warm up.

3. understand how a dynamic warm-up is more beneficial then static stretching.

4. be able to successfully warm up to the best physical benefit.

Conditions:

-Can be performed on a field, gym floor, or any open area with a hard surface.

-Open area must be at least 25 yards.

-There should be at least body’s width and length between each student.

Equipment / Dress:

-Proper training shoes (either running or cross training shoes).

-students should wear proper work out clothes, can be form fitting or slightly loose, but no baggy pants or shirts.

EX: T-shirt and shorts (for males) or a fitted tank top/t-shirt and shorts (for female).

For Instructor to know:

Proper form of active stretching is essential in stretching the right muscle groups. Demonstrate how each stretch should be performed before the students start and for 10 yards with students. Remind students to keep breathing with each stretch. Also watch to make sure students are staying in their assigned line.

Placement of Participants / Students:

Students should a body’s width and length away from each other. Students also need to make sure they stay in their assigned lines. If students can clearly hear and see the instructor, the lines can be spread out. Keeping space between each line if very important to give each student adequate space.

Teaching Phase: (25-30 minutes)

This phase is meant to introduce the topic of a dynamic warm-up. By giving background information on the subject, the students will be able to complete the warm-up with more knowledge of why it is needed before any activity.
