Consensual Relationship Agreement Case Study

This case study will argue for the use of consensual relationship agreement in the workplace. This study will discuss the positives of having a contract drawn for reasons of protection and ethical issues. Next in this study will create cons, a counter argument against the use of the consensual relationship agreement. Also, discuss options of having something other than consensual relationship agreement that will address workplace romances.

Pros of CRA’s

The Consensual Relationship Agreement is a contract that helps govern the workplace relationships. Whether you are working long hours or short hours things can happen between individuals that are working on a common goal. Some situations are not always intentional, but it would be good to have protection of the consensual relationship agreement to possibly keep you from a disastrous problem. In arguing for the consensual relationship agreement in the workplace there are many positives. First policy would keep the company focused and mission minded.

To explain part of the agreement you have a manager and secretary who finally come out about their romantic involvement. In some cases, employees will disclose their relationship, but it is management that will talk to the suspected couple and have them to sign a contract called the Love Contract. Usually this contract is signed voluntarily it state that if the relationship does not work that they will seek arbitration among themselves and not file a harassment grievance. The Love Contract should include:

• A reference to or recitation of the company’s sexual harassment policy, and an acknowledgment that the employees are familiar with the policy.

• An affirmation that the relationship is consensual and freely entered into, and that each employee agrees to waive the right to assert a claim for sexual harassment for any conduct by the other prior to
