Odysseus would have never made it home without the help of the gods. The gods had a lot to do with Odysseus’s journey. Without the help of Zeus Odysseus would still be trapped on Calypsos Island. Athena was there for Odysseus on his whole trip when Odysseus needed help she would share words of knowledge with him and help him carry on with his journey. Circes helped Odysseus get home safely. The gods played a big factor in Odysseus's journey home.

Zeus is the god of all gods and helped Odysseus get home by freeing him from Calypsos Island. Zeus sends Hermes to tell Calypso to free him and let him go home. Hermes tells calypso “All right let him go now, and don’t forget the wrath of god, or he may be angry one fine day.” After being trapped on Calypsos Island for seven years Zeus sends Hermes to tell Calypso that he demands he lets him go.

Athena is the goddess of wisdom and is also the daughter of Zeus. Athena helps Odysseus on his trip and gives him advice throughout his trip and also helps him impress the Phaicians. Before facing the Phaicians, Athena covers Odysseus with beauty to impress the Phaicians. By doing that for Odysseus she helps him a lot and Odysseus leaves a good impression on the Phaicians.

Circes is the goddess of witchcraft who lives on the island of Aeaea. After she turned all of Odysseus’s men into animals by putting a spell on them but the spell doesn’t work on Odysseus and she decides to help him get home. Circes helps Odysseus by giving him advice on how to avoid death on his journey. Circes advice helped Odysseus greatly even though he lost some of his men he survived.

If it wasn’t for the gods Odysseus would have never made it home. Without their help he would have been dead or forever trapped on Calypsos Island. The gods where a great part of the journey of Odysseus.
