Selecting main ideas can be very important when it comes to studying and test taking learning to make out the main ideas can become challenging but these are some ways that can help us all: listen carefully in class and write down the points of your professors say they are going to cover, it will help you organize your notes, write down any lecture objectives your professors put on an overhead or board, and raise questions in your mind as your professor speaks. Usually I can select the main ideas when I draw out an outline of what I'm reading usually the first paragraph lets us know what we are going to be reading about so I just go ahead and highlight the main points. I sometimes missed highlighting and I have to go through and re read everything over to make sure I allow myself time to process information for selecting the main ideas because main ideas usually start off with "And now let us turn to", "Remember this", or "You'll find that" and those selection can help you figure out what the main topic just by scanning through. I learned that selecting the main ideas can save us time and we wont have to re-read the passages given over and over also highlighting the main ideas you selected can help you learn the material faster.What is information processing? Information processing is the sciences concerned with gathering, manipulating, storing, retrieving, and classifying recorded information. I scored high on Information Processing on the Lassi Test, but I do have a few pointers that can be fixed like getting on social networks on my phone or laptop while I'm in class and becoming distracted when there are sounds in the hallways or outside during lectures. I usually multitask real well but I do realize that even if I'm listening to the professor and on social networks I can hinder myself from making sure I gathering and processing the right information.
