In this technological era, many college students still suffer anxiety when conducting presentation or public speech this also known as communication apprehension. James C. McCroskey (1977a, 1978) defined communication apprehension as “an individual’s level of fear or anxiety associated with either real or anticipated communication with another person or persons"http://www.jamescmccroskey.com/publications/174.pdf .

This will cause a major problem to the student himself and to the society, where the students are unable to clearly express themselves in a conversation with other people. Based on a research conducted, when fresh graduates engage or enter into working environment, it demands them to produce error-free language structures and communicate effectively. Those students who are unable to be communicatively competent are not able to secure a job in the working industries (Kalaimagal Ramakrishnan, 2011). http://repository.um.edu.my/15410/1/Employmenet%20Issues%20African%20Journal.pdf

There are several factors that link to why college student felt nervousness whenever they are presenting. First, is fear of facing audience, where the students are fearful of negative feedback from the audience such as the lecturers and peers. Results showed even student that had prepare in advance for their presentation may subject to anxiety or nervous during presentation due to the pressure given by the audience. Hence, students will also tend to suffer physical disorientation such as stomach churning and headache during presentation when the message of the presentation not being perceived competence (Brian Grewe, 2013). http://www.natcom.org/uploadedFiles/Teaching_and_Learning/Virtual_Faculty_Lounge/TRIP%20student%20public%20speaking%20anxiety.pdf

Next, inability to pronounce English words correctly, a study had shown that student with fewer language skill tend to make mistake and afraid to use English due to proficiency in the language.  Studies had shown where, student are more comfortable when they are not communicating in their secondary language (English) with their peers (Young, 1991). http://www.marynsam.com/uploads/1/4/0/7/14075053/full_text_measuring_speaking_anxiety_among_speech_communication.pdf

Another important reason is that due to poor vocabulary, a study showed that students are mostly fear of making mistakes in the presence of their peers and lecturer during presentation.  Hence, most of the student might chose avoid the opportunity of presenting or public speaking when given upon, where they assume that their language skill is insufficient to communicate effectively to the audience (Love, 2013). https://etd.ohiolink.edu/!etd.send_file?accession=ohiou1363877519&disposition=inline
