ABSTRACT

The purpose of this project is to find solutions and fill in the gaps and to investigate the barriers faced by international and local students, and also recommendations on ways to enhance communication bonds and eradicate barriers recognized in Multimedia University Cyberjaya. The focus was on reasons why these barriers exist in Multimedia University. As to that, the barriers can be minimised. Its importance is to break down the barriers between the local and international students in order for communication skills to be enhanced.

Further steps was taken to authenticate this project to prove the project, we adopted statistics method to show clear understand and the rate on male and female students in MMU problems faced by them also collection of data for observation.

A series of questions was handed to 30 respondents in person. To get more reliable results, the plan was to survey an equal amount of 15 local students who study in MMU and 15 a survey was conducted with international students from MMU. The questions that were included in the survey were only related to the topic were open-ended questions were asked to respondents.

Lastly, each group member gave their own ideas on how to solve the problems on communication of the local students and international students.

A fair number of respondents from both genders of local and international students were taken. Most of them stated that they have many international and local friends which means regardless of the languages and other barriers that they stated in the survey, they do make an effort to know each other. It is believed that this is due to the environment in Multimedia University (MMU) which requires the students to interact in daily activities.
