1. Bharat Dubey had inherited values that placed high premium on trust and integrity. However he lacked the stamina to sustain these ethical values in the face of adversity. Post joining Tome Hydraulics his attitude changed from the conscientious to opportunistic. Though he stuck to the ethics initially but later on he started flouting company rules to his benefit and even indulged in sabotage by having to workers create an issue on the shop floor on his instructions. He had a poor ethical stamina.

2 . Ethics are universal in nature. They should not be influenced or weighed by weather someone is watching or not . We should follow ethical standards regardless of the fact weather we are at home or away.

3. Business Ethics at Tome Hydraulics had failed miserably. A larger part of it was because of poor management policy where honest employees were forced to temper the ethical fabric to save them from being sacked. The company policy often left honest employee in the dark and they were harassed by opportunistic colleagues till they shift side. Emphasis was laid on productivity at all costs and the frequent circumventing of company rules eroded any sort of moral values in the organization.

4. Bharat Dubey is a man of great capabilities and intellects. But, he exploited the company’s code of confidentiality with impunity. He exhibits greed and opportunist penchant through his actions. Such a person might bring short term gains for the company but in the long run he will bring demise of any ethical culture existent in the company ,which will cause downfall of the entire organization.

5. Tome Hydraulics needs to clearly communicate company policy regarding ethics and moral standards. Often officials at the top rungs leak official data to ally themselves with union office bearers. Though this is contrary to official rules but is in conformity with the prevailing organizational culture.
