Today the conference is going to be about making a great company even better. Smith Systems Consulting (SSC) is in need of an information system. They have been in business since 1950. SSC was established in the small town of Jumper Creek, Main. They now have five offices; second in Wichita, KS, third in Yakima, WA, forth in Cincinnati, OH, and the fifth but not least Leesburg, FL. In the world today everyone needs to become computerized. SSC needs to protect themselves and their customers. SSC is looking for security, storage, and information device all in one. To do this properly SSC will need to train all their employees on how to use the new system.

SSC has had several customers over the years and they have copies of all papers from each one of their customers in a big filing cabinet room. All of these files will be in need of transferring to the new system. However, once the transfer of all files is complete the new system will make retrieval of any customer's information a breeze. Once SSC implements the new information system they will find that all files will be more secure.

‘Information systems are the means by which people and organizations, utilizing technologies, gather, process, store, use and disseminate information.' As defined by the UK Academy for Information Systems, July 1999. SSC's clients are looking for technology services. SSC's customers are from a wide variety of industries including:

Transportation, Retail, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Education, and many others. SSC is also looking to expand to another location in the United States. They are also looking into opening an office in Asia, but it is still being decided.
