WHAT

  • Being a Marshmallow (weakness)-Signature Skill

I got 14 out of 15 for Part B of Manager Weaknesses Questionnaire. My score is above the 10.0 mean score and in the top quartile. However, the higher score means that I tend to over-nurture people and take on responsibilities to cover for the mistakes of others.1 For instance, I knew that my high school classmate had a problem with laziness, but every time she complained about too much homework, and how awful the school schedule was, I always agreed with a nod and never told her that maybe she needs to improve her time management. I am physically and mentally unable to refuse and tell the truth if it will make others feel unhappy or embarrassed. I decided this skill to be my signature skill because making right decisions without worrying about people’s feelings is such an important lesson worth me to spend more time on it.

  • Deliberate Practice (strength)

I got 28 out of 30 for the Deliberate Practice Questionnaire. My score is higher than the 22.3 mean score and in the top quartile. Evidently, the higher score interprets that I can effectively use deliberate practice skills to master my academic tasks, and I know how to transfer and apply those skills to other areas of my life.2 For example; I started to learn playing the piano when I was four years old. I practiced everyday for one and one-half an hour, and every Saturday my piano teacher would assign my homework and check my last task. She stopped me every time I played the wrong button and waited for me to repeat the same part until I completely righted the error. I successfully passed the 10th level of piano examination when I was 12. Though the learning process is very long and tedious, I believe practice makes the perfect.

  • Vision (weakness)

I got 19 out of 24 for the Vision Questionnaire. My score is below the 21.1 mean score and in the bottom quartile. A lower score means that I tend to be a doer because I can effectively implement action. However, I cannot provide a meaningful idea. I am a hard worker and focus on my job, but I need to make a special effort to express and engage people in the team’s purpose and vision.3 Group work is the best example to reflect my weakness. I tend to perform better when the leader assigns me the job. Otherwise, I have no clue where to start.
