Team C Reflection

Introduction

This week Team C discussed the aspects and concerns of our mentoring program. We have covered the challenges that we may face in the program as well as the benefits that we foresee coming from it. We discussed the aspects of being the mentor and the mentee as well as the relationship between the two.

Mentor

Mentoring can be a challenge as we don’t want to be overbearing and belittling but want to share our experience and knowledge in a respectful way. we have mentored many employees in our professional careers as managers. When we mentor someone, we invite them to sit with us while doing things such as meetings, interviews, and various other important tasks. Afterwards, we sit with the mentee and point out the important things from those events. We talk with them about issues we are facing and the options we are weighing to resolve those issues. After some time, we start giving them greater responsibilities, and we talk them through the task and help them figure out what approach they should take to complete the task. After the task is completed, we sit down with the mentee and review their work with them and offer guidance as needed. We talk with the mentee about their goals and discuss different ways they can achieve their goals. We try to instill confidence in them by telling them they are doing a good job. Eventually, we can promote the mentee to the next step in their career.

Mentee

As a mentee, we look for a mentor who will offer us expertise, experience and guidance as well as look for opportunities that our mentoring experiences can give us. We look for things that can be taken away from this experience and what will be different for us as a result of the mentoring experience. As a mentee, we need to decide what image we wish to project in the organization, what talents can be utilized during our mentoring experience that we do not already utilize in our current position, and decide
