Imagine you are in charge of logistics for a small exporting business such as Honeyland? What are the difficulties you need to think about?

Distance Honeyland to sea port and Japan

Honeyland is located in Palmerton North; a small town in New Zealand Manawa region and the nearest convenient port are Napier port which is a small rural town with international harbour facility. The distance between production house to the Napier port are less about 183 main other the geographical distance between New Zealand and Japan is also big challenging that affect their shipping cost.

Packaging and Honey Supplier

Since current suppliers of Honeyland mostly are located near to the Napier region, some localization or outsourcing seems crucial to minimised the transportation cost. Honeyland might also thinks on dual supplier or more, so they can switch the port of loading to more reliable ports of destination.

Better ordering system

Poor capacity and frequency of transportation services especially during harvest were lead to late product delivery to the customer. Honeyland must do something with their ordering system so that they can better plan their shipment and minimised the cost, i.e shipping charges among festive are higher compares to normal season.

Frequent delivery mode.

Frequent delivery mode will also lead to a high transportation cost to them, since they will normally go for full container load at average 20’ footer container. As they could not expected the time delivery by using LCL. To solve this problem the logistic personnel has to think on the hiring the third party logistics. So that Honeyland can produce the honey and send it to the warehouse, whilst all inbound and outbound activities
