The Chapter is discussing the challenges and the changes that an organization regardless of Size and Age would face, and how these organization will adopt the these changes to make sure that will sustain in the long run.

Not just private profit organization would face changes from the external environment but the Public departments and nonprofit organization will face changes and competitions.

The chapter describes that none of the organization are protected from the changes like technologies convention, customer preference and availability of supplies. Also, Organizations are not static; they are trying to Adopt and shift in the external environment and controlling the changes.

In the meantime, Organizations face the challenges of finding ways of changing themselves and their environment to become technically, economically and ethically more responsive and effective.

The current challenges of the organization are describe as the following:

Globalization: this is due to the rapid changes of Technology and communication that helps the organization to better understand different markets. Now is easier for the organization to locate their market in the location that makes most business sense. Now it is possible to have top decision maker in one location and the technical brainpower and production in another place.

Ethics and social Responsibility: taking ethics and social responsibility seriously are becoming increasing important for the organization and they want to take lead in dealing with these issues.

Speed in Responsiveness: Another challenge of the organization is the response quickly to the environment changes, organizational crises and changing customer expectations.
