Repercussion of Society

“It must be destroyed!” cried all the scholars. That was enough to trigger Equality’s rage and lash out. The council threatens to destroy Equality’s invention, even though Equality never really thought highly of his society. Therefore when the council threatens to destroy his invention he realizes a lot. With that act of the council, he finally understands that his society is filled with cowards, ignorance, negligence, and rots with fear.

Cowards, Equality’s society oozes with cowards. Something that Equality was aware of already. Cowards because the council avoided any contact with the invention. Society itself is a coward, because they don’t do anything about the way they live their lives. For example they do just what they are told, they as a society can appose to what they say but don’t. So when Equality and the Golden One find the house of the Unmentionable Times, Equality feels this sorrow towards them because he is now free and they aren’t. Because he choose to become an individual.

Fear, something that does far more than exist in Equality’s civilization. The council feared both Equality and his invention because no one had ever dared to do what Equality did. He went against the rules and that alone frightened the council. The council is reluctant towards the invention; they assume that society won’t approve it. Because they saw his invention as a threat they feared for the change it will come about. Equality also understood that the commonwealth has no intention to break away, and become one individual. For example, when Equality and International 4-8818 found the tunnel, Equality choose to think as one and decided as one to go down the tunnel; whereas International 4-8818 did not, he feared to think for himself.
