Introduction

Influenza is a common cold that you catch from coming In contact with a person that has the flu if you come into contact with a person with influenza you may inhale the infected person droplets immediately. Influenza is has 3 main type of viruses type A, Type B, and Type C, The 3 viruses. Type A is usually responsible for annual outbreaks that typically occur in the late fall and early winter. All 3 Types are spread in the same way they leave an infected persons body in droplets. The influenza virus changes often so having flu caused by one strain doesn’t give you full immunity to other strains. Widespread outbreaks of the flu follow significant changes called antigenic shifts. CDC reports that a person with the flu can spread the virus to other people up to six feet away.  The cause of influenza is by social contact such as handshakes or sneezes or cough. Also contact with objects such as handkerchiefs that have been in contact with fluids from an infected persons nose or throat.

Symptoms

They symptoms of influenza appear suddenly and often when symptoms first develop

Body aches and muscle pain are often severe mostly in the back, arms, or legs. You will also experience Headache, Pain when you move your eyes general feeling sick (malaise) and loss of appetite. A dry cough or runny nose and dry or sore throat you may not notice these the first days of the illness. Fever is usually continuous but it may come and go as your fever goes away these symptoms may become more evident. The fever can be lower in older adults than in children when the fever is high other symptoms usually are mover severe.

Treatment

If you have influenza you can expects the illness to go away on the 7 to 10 days. Get extra bed rest can help drink plenty of fluids to replace those lost from fever. Fluids also ease a scratchy throat and keep nasal mucus. Water, soup, fruit juice, and hot tea with lemon are all good choices. If the fever is uncomfortable, sponge your body with lukewarm water to reduce fever. Do not use cold water or ice to clear the stuffy nose breathe moist air from hot shower.

Avoid smoking, and breathing secondhand smoke.
