Supporting Mobile Health Clinics Study

This paper will discuss New York Children’s Health Project (NYCHP), which is a health care organization based out of New York and is committed to those children who do not have access to basic health care necessities. Established in 1987, NYCHP now operates in various cities across the United States. Their concept of mobile health care has been quite successful.

In 1987, Dr. Irwin Redlener and Paul Simon founded and launched the New York Children’s Health Project (www.childrenshealthfund.org). This concept was a lifelong dream of his. He had the ingenuity to take healthcare services to children in need. This concept came to him while working in the pediatric department of the Denver children’s hospital. VISTA, or Volunteers in Services to America is what drove him to start offering his services in various locations across the country. Later on, he focused solely on pediatric care, creating the Children’s Health Fund (CHF).

The CHF’s mission is to help those children that are homeless and underprivileged. The National Network consists of 25 pediatric care programs and provides services to children located in poor rural and urban communities nationwide (www.childrenshealthfund.org). The foundation’s programs have strong financial support, which have managed to receive funds from four different sources to include corporations, individuals, government health insurance programs, and Congressional aid. Additionally, CHF organizes programs and camps all around the country and has 23 medical affiliates across 15 states (www.childrenshealthfund.org).

CHF receives assistance from various MMCs. They are dedicated in delivering optimal mental, dental, and medical care, amongst other areas as well. Many of the supporting programs have been assisting CHF since its inception. Other services however, are lacking in technology and has an impact on delivery of these services (www.childrenshealthfund.org).

CHF adopted the mobile health care service concept and it works to bring medical services closer to more children that are in need. Mobile vans work to achieve the organization’s medical goals, by working on a concept
